Carlos Real is a Lawn Care Expert and General Manager of TotalLawn.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, he shared his pro tips for getting green grass and avoiding damage.

“The weather is unpredictable and if it rains that day [of your event]Your feet get muddy and sink into the ground.

“Because of this, you need to prep your lawn in advance.

“Start by removing moss or weeds, tidying up the edges, and trimming your lawn so people can see where they’re going.

He claimed that the best type of mower you could use is one with a roller as it makes perfect stripes on the lawn.

You also don’t want to forget about your concreted areas.

“Remember to clean your patio/patio tiles if you have any. A simple jet wash will suffice.”

Although you might be tempted to water the grass as much as possible on the day of your gathering, Carlos said it’s important not to overdo it.

“In fact, we would recommend skipping watering a few days before your party.

“This ensures the floor is firm and the firmer it is, the less damage there is from foot traffic.

“When you place heavy weights on your lawn it is inevitable that some damage will occur as the soil beneath the lawn begins to compact over time.

“When this happens, the roots cannot absorb enough nutrients, causing the grass to turn brown and die.”

Save your dining table and chair for the day because it’s best to put those heavy weights on the lawn as late as possible.

And if you can, try to put those larger items on the covered patios to avoid damaging the lawn.

“If that’s not an option, put down a wooden box as it spreads the weight over a larger area and minimizes the chance of damage.”

He also said it’s better to mow the lawn a few days before the meeting than on the day of the meeting, as a little extra length would provide cushion.

If you still want that crisp look, Carlos added that you could simply roll a lawnmower up and down when it’s off to create the striped look.

“Spilled drinks and dropped food are common at a party, but if they settle on your lawn it can cause discoloration and staining.

“To avoid this, clear out all clutter as you see it.

“For spilled drinks, a simple hose is all it takes to reduce the chance of damaging your lawn.”
