Doing that big weekly grocery shopping can be a chore, especially when you end up stuck in a long line at the checkout.
But a former Walmart employee has revealed that there’s an easy way to bypass the long lines — just ask for another lane to open.
Former Walmart employee Paris Mars, known online as Heyparis, told The US Sun that if a queue is taking too long, you can request another register to open.
Walmart’s policy is that no more than three consumers should stand in line at any one time, Heyparis said.
Staff should “not say no” if you ask them to open another checkout, she explained.
“If the line is too long and there’s only like three lanes open, you can go to the lane and say, ‘Can you call someone to jump on this empty lane because this line is too long,'” the social media outlet said -Influencers shared.
At the time, Heyparis’ own hack was to require a register to be opened as soon as she entered the store.
So there are no long queues after shopping and she can pay and leave quickly.
While it may seem that asking for assistance will help you skip a lengthy checkout process, there are situations where this is not the case.
For example, if you have a question about a product, the staff are not trained enough to help you.
“No Walmart employee is trained for any department they work in,” Heyparis told The US Sun.
The staff will even tell you they don’t know the answer and will lie when it comes to finding someone who does.
“No one else will come,” she said.
“You’re going to stand there for hours, okay, because the Walmart employees don’t care.”
If you’re in the tech department and have a question about an iPad or camera, Heyparis says you should just read the box yourself because the staff are trained to do it.
According to Heyparis, another thing to know about Walmart is the ability to receive a gift card if you make a respectful complaint.
She also shared that staff are unlikely to search the stockroom for additional items.
