Grocery store flowers are a less expensive way to brighten up your home or give a gift to a loved one, but some might be concerned it might look a bit cheap.
A Trader Joe shopper shared his favorite trick for making the bouquet look more expensive without breaking the bank.
“From grocery-bought to gorgeous with a little spin!” said user Alexschin on TikTok.
The nearly 20-second clip suggests removing the leaves from your flowers, except for the leaves at the top.
Once that’s done, gently rotate the flower by rubbing the stem back and forth between your hands.
She says this allows the petals to open wider, giving the flower a fuller appearance.
Finally, put the flowers in a pretty vase and you’re done.
It’s a simple yet effective hack that will make your home look gorgeous without spending those few extra bucks.
If you’re looking for another hack to save money, RachaLovesLife’s YouTuber Rachel turned a $20 store-bought cake into a stunning wedding creation for her 10-year wedding anniversary with her husband.
The self-taught baker got a generic sheet cake from the store, decorated with colorful icing blossoms.
She began by “de-icing” the sheet cake with a spatula.
“It’s easier to remove after putting it in the freezer for a few minutes,” Rachel explained in the popular video.
After removing the flowers and some of the base layer icing, she cut the cake in half to smooth out the layers.
One of her biggest tricks to transform the cake was a special kind of frosting.
After glazing her newly designed layers, she pulled out some tools that she used to apply texture to the sides.
“It was fun and it wasn’t fun,” Rachel said after showing her husband her masterpiece. “But I learned a lot about cake.”
Overall, she said she probably spent $40 on a cake that could cost hundreds.
