KIDS don’t want to feel like they don’t have enough space to move freely in their own bedrooms.
There is a great way parents can solve the problem of a crowded bedroom to make it feel a lot more spacious and open.
Kristen is a mom of three living in North Carolina who shares DIY videos with her 1.2 million followers on TikTok, where she is known as @SouthernEscape.
One of the best clips she’s posted is of how she seemingly doubled the space in her kids’ bedroom.
She starts the process by removing all the furniture from the room and painting the walls a new color.
“I had an idea of how I wanted the beds to be,” she said.
Kristen said she listened to some suggestions from her followers to move the beds off the floor.
She and her husband built wooden bedsteads that are firmly attached to the bedroom walls.
She continued her video by saying, “Let me tell you how much more space… It just makes the room look so much bigger!”
She added a wooden ladder attached to the edge of the beds which creatively helped make the beds look like they were floating!
With all the extra floor space in their nursery, they now have a much larger area to run around and play with their toys.
Someone worried about safety measures wrote: “This is really cool but I would be scared. How do you know the beds aren’t falling down?”
Kristen responded by saying, “In order for the beds to be securely fastened, it was imperative that they be secured to wall studs. The free-floating corner also has its own support system.”
Another person excitedly wrote: “Love this! So happy you found a solution you love! You will be so happy you did! Thank you for sharing!”
Until now, Kristen’s video has received over 584,600 likes on TikTok with hundreds of comments.
