Basking in the summer sun is fun and games until you come inside and all the bugs in your yard follow you.
Of course you could keep the doors and windows closed, but what if you want to let in some fresh air?
Luckily, this mom has found the perfect solution for you to keep the windows open and make sure bugs stay out.
DIY genius Geniene posted her hack on TikTok and admitted she was “tired of sharing my house with the case of A Bug’s Life”.
She taped magnetic tape around the edge of her windows and cut a roll of window screens.
The mesh was fine enough that small bugs couldn’t get in, but still allowed plenty of sunlight to fill their home.
The DIY expert explained: “There are no insect screens in the UK, but these were cheap and easy to make.”
There are many other ways to get rid of pesky insects once they’re in your home, but this quick DIY project is perfect for keeping them away altogether.
Viewers of the clip loved the idea, with one saying: “Mesh netting is an absolute lifesaver.”
Another said: “I made one for the back door and one for the bedroom window, then made a slack for the kitchen from the leftover netting.”
One user confessed to having netting pinned to his windows to keep bugs out.
Responding to the comment, Geniene said, “I didn’t want to damage the windows as I don’t own my house and also need to open and close my windows.”
Many people have been amazed that most UK homes do not have insect screens to begin with.
