A DIY expert shared how you can easily make your own window screens.
If you enjoy having your windows open during the summer months but can’t stand insects, then we’ve got the trick for you.
The DIY expert shared the simple solution on his TikTok account, Something_Quaint.
They wrote: “How I made do-it-yourself window screens (because they’re not a thing in the UK.)”
“The only thing America got right,” they captioned the video.
In the short clip, they first say you need a sheet of netting with the holes small enough for bugs to not crawl through.
Next you will need magnetic tape to secure the fabric in place.
Stick the tape sticky side to the window frame and then lay another layer of magnetic tape sticky side out.
You can then stick the mesh onto the tape and trim off the excess fabric and the DIY project is complete.
The DIY pro said in the video’s comments section that his DIY window screen has been up for a year without falling once.
The post received over 14,000 likes from viewers, but many pointed out that you could buy window screens at the store.
Others claimed they also make their own as it’s a lot cheaper than buying them in a store.
One wrote: “I don’t care that you can buy them. Buying the stuff to make one becomes cheaper and more satisfying! I’ll save that!”
“I think some people missed the point, great work and idea and I’m sure a lot cheaper than store bought!”
A third wrote: “Brilliant idea, saw them online but they vary in price so much and look awful. It doesn’t!”
