According to experts, there are simple steps you can take every day to prevent visible signs of aging.

TikTok user Dr. Daniel Sugai, whom his followers refer to as Dr. Knowing SPF shared his four everyday tips to prevent aging.

To actively reduce signs of skin aging, Dr. SPF to increase collagen levels in your skin.

Collagen is the protein responsible for keeping skin elastic and young-looking.

To increase your collagen levels, the dermatologist recommends using sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher and reapplying it every two hours.

“Protect your skin, we don’t want to break down more collagen than necessary,” the doctor advised his followers.

He said: “Some studies have shown that if you consistently wear sunscreen year-round, you may be able to reverse the signs of photoaging.”

As a next tip, Dr. SPF encourages viewers to make sure they get seven or more hours of sleep each night.

“Collagen production often occurs at night while we sleep,” he explained.

The TikToker also recommended applying a pea-sized amount of retinoid to your face every night.

“Retinoids are great, they tell your fibroblasts on your second layer of skin to make more collagen. [This] thickens your skin [and gives] a more youthful balance,” said Dr. SPF.

Finally, the skincare expert advised his followers to incorporate vitamin C into their daily routine.

“Consider a vitamin C serum to protect against free radical damage from the sun during the day,” he said.

The TikTok user explained, “Ascorbic acid is quite unstable, but it could potentially help increase collagen production.”

“Research is ongoing to find the right vitamin C derivative that can penetrate deep into the skin and stimulate collagen production,” he added.
