WHEN mosquitoes congregate in the kitchen or bathroom, they tend to lay their eggs down the drain.
This then makes them even more difficult to get rid of as they can reproduce indefinitely.
However, one cooking fan has revealed what she’s doing to avoid it, especially when the weather warms up.
Bronx mom Michelle, better known as Big Mama Cooks, took to TikTok to share her hack.
“Mosquitoes lay eggs in drains and become a major nuisance in the home,” she began.
“I address this problem by boiling a pot of water and dumping half a cup of bleach down the drain.
“Pour half the hot water down the drain and repeat – half a cup of bleach and the remaining hot water.
“I do that once a week in the warm season.”
But if bleach isn’t your thing, according to their comments section, you can substitute baking soda and vinegar.
Other people added their contribution to their hack, with one person saying, “This is the best way to get rid of drain flies!”
“They feed on the sugar in your drains. It is troublesome to get rid of them once they start multiplying.”
And while some people have warned against pouring hot water down the pipes, you can do so if you don’t have a septic tank in your home or if you don’t have clogging issues.
And if mosquitoes are attacking your plants, there’s another four-ingredient mix you can make to get rid of them.
On a plate, a gardening expert added a few spoonfuls of sugar, topped with white vinegar and Ajax dishwashing liquid.
Then she mixed it and added a few squirts of honey, leaving the plate near her plants where the mosquitoes concentrated.
The next morning she came back to a plate full of dead mosquitoes.
Honey, vinegar, and sugar will attract those pesky bugs, but dish soap will kill them on the spot.
