I’m a barista – I finally understand how staff at Dunkin’ Donuts and Starbucks feel after an intense customer encounter

A BARISTA at a local store compared himself to workers at Dunkin’ Donuts and Starbucks after an intensive customer encounter.
The worker claimed in a viral TikTok he was scolded by a woman for not serving “frozen” coffee and pitied baristas working in the larger chains.

On the social media app, user Dean Redmond explained the story in a video that has nearly 250,000 views.
“I had this woman come in 10 minutes before closing and asked for a frozen coffee, and I work at a small town coffee shop. We don’t do frozen coffee,” Redmond said.
“I keep telling her we can make an iced coffee if you’d like.”
Apparently, the customer didn’t like Redmond’s response and was keen for a “frozen” coffee from Dunkin’, but the chain was closed.

He said she asked if the local store had ice cream or a blender, but he replied and said no.
“She says, ‘Fine, I’ll have an iced coffee,'” Redmond shared.
The TikToker said it made an iced coffee with whipped cream and a caramel drizzle for the disgruntled customer.
He said he put the drink on the counter with the lid on the side so she could set it down herself.
However, Redmond said it prompted another spasmodic reaction from the exhausted guest.
He said the customer “let me remake the entire drink” after saying the counter was dirty, so he created another iced coffee, but this time with a lid.
That was still just the beginning of their escapades.
“She says, ‘This isn’t frozen coffee. I asked for an iced coffee like they do at Dunkin’,” she exclaimed.
In appropriate “Karen” fashion, she asked for the manager.
However, as the store prepared to close, Redmond said none of the managers were on duty.
“She says, ‘I need your name so I can write a review online.’ I said, ‘I’m sorry I won’t give you my name.’”
After asking for the owner’s contact information, she called and sadly received the same news that Redmond shared from the start.
Redmond said that after the whole ordeal, she tried to get the iced coffee without paying because “that’s the worst customer service ever,” but the local barista stopped her from leaving.
Commenters on the video further suggested that she was just trying to get a free drink.
Others said, “If she hasn’t paid, then she’s not a customer, so she’s not getting bad customer service.”

This comes after a Starbucks employee said he believes there is a “special place in hell” for the order.
And this person said their Dunkin’ Donuts order was ruined after the staff made a critical mistake.
