If you can see two faces in this optical illusion, you’re in the top 1% – do you see the sad man or the angry man?

An optical illusion is so sophisticated that only a tiny fraction of the population can see both faces in the picture.
With a little coaching from the content creator who shared it, you might be able to get into this exclusive upper tier.

Host Dean Jackson has a background in biology, but on TikTok he entertains his 594,000 followers with brain teasers, riddles and optical illusions.
His most recent video contained a challenging illusion showing a sad looking man from the front and also included a different image.
“Right now you’re looking at a man’s face that’s looking a little bit sad,” Jackson explained.
“It is said that just under one percent of people can also see an angry face.”

He provided a few seconds grace period for viewers to try and see the angry man for themselves.
“If you can’t see the angry face, put a finger on the screen right there,” Jackson continued. A red arrow flashed on the screen.

“Hold it for a second,” he ordered. “Give yourself five seconds.”
When covering the top corner of the face didn’t work, Jackson had specific instructions for viewers.
“If you still can’t see that face, please post ‘What angry face?'” he said.
In the comments, other viewers chimed in, offering guidance to those who still couldn’t see the secondary image.
“If you’re having trouble, think of the ear as an eye,” one person wrote.
Another gave step-by-step advice.
“Cover from the top of his head to the right side of his face,” they wrote.
“Tilt your phone slightly to the right and he has one blue eye and one white eye.”
Even after seeing the angry image, some commenters noted that it was difficult to keep track of both illusions.
“My brain still wants to see the original,” one person admitted.

And others lucky enough to see both faces had feedback on the image itself.
“It wasn’t what I would call angry,” explained one viewer. “I guess I’d just say, two faces, different perspectives.”
