‘If she stole it, why did she bring it back?’: TikToker says she was charged with shoplifting, has racist record at Bealls Outlet

In a TikTok posted on December 20, TikToker @creativechefdamtruth said that she was racially described in a Bealls Outlet store when she was wearing a shirt she purchased that still had an electronic security tag. up there.

“I spent $400, you guys leave the card, I go home,” she told the store manager. “And it’s still going on.”

The TikToker said she tried to resolve the issue with a cashier before the manager approached her.

“It seems to be a problem and I don’t understand what the problem is. It’s not my fault that the card is there,” she told the manager. She also said she didn’t bring a receipt for the shirt because she didn’t think she needed to.

The manager told her that “normally” without a receipt, they “assume” the customer “goes out” with the merchandise. @creativechefdamtruth ask the staff to look her up in their system to prove the purchase.

“I own 47 damn restaurants. How the hell would anyone think I was out of here,” TikToker told the manager. “Because I’m black, will you treat me like I stole something?”

The TikToker also said that she heard a cashier refuse to look her up in the system to prove a purchase, which she made using a Bealls credit card. The store manager later said he didn’t hear from any of the employees about @creativechefdamtruth’s race.

“She just left me here like I was invisible,” TikToker said of employees who weren’t looking for her in the Bealls system.

With the exception of a select few comments saying that @creativechefdamtruth should have brought her receipt, many commenters on the video agreed that she was treated unfairly.

“You have every right to be mad,” @da_twinmama wrote. “I’m tired of people assuming you’re stealing based on the color of your skin.”

“If she stole it, why did she bring it back,” @destaniwalker3 commented.

“Always ‘who am I?’ guilty people! ” wrote @nadinekori of Bealls staff, who spoke out on TikTok. “She [could’ve] Keep her head down and don’t say a damn thing but no, she’s like “no, I’m not.”

Others are not on the side of @creativechefdamtruth.

“You did too much,” commented @histimeinfamousho.

“Attitude is not necessary,” wrote @kiki_doyle860. “Mistakes always happen.”
