“I would choose Scottie Pippen and Magic Johnson over Michael Jordan!”: Karl Malone shocks when dismissing ‘His bravery’ when asked about the players he will build his team around

NBA legend Karl Malone was recently asked who his dream team would be. He ended up picking Scottie Pippen and Magic Johnson over a Michael Jordan.

Karl Malone is one of the most powerful strikers in NBA history. Built more like a soccer player than a basketball player, his size and strength make him difficult to defend in the lowlands. The two-time MVP ended his career with 36,928 points, second only to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Furthermore, he had a deadly mid-range jump, which he used repeatedly in picks and rolls with John Stockton. This duo dominated the annual Western Conference in their infancy, only to lose Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippenof the Chicago Bulls in the final.

During the 1997 Finals, Pippen hit Malone with one of the most trashy rants of all time, telling him the Postman couldn’t deliver on Sundays. The Jazz forward missed two free throws and ended up losing both the game and the series.

The very next year, Michael Jordan humiliated Malone. In game 6 of the 1998 final, his mettle famously snatched the ball from the Postman before ending his close-range shoot.

As a result, Karl Malone may not be MJ’s biggest fan, and that’s been on full display lately. In fact, the former 2x MVP even explained why he would build his own dream team around fellow Bulls player Scottie Pippen instead of His Airness.

Karl Malone explains why he chose Scottie Pippen over Michael Jordan.

The 1992 United States men’s basketball team, nicknamed the “Dream Team,” was the first U.S. Olympic team to feature active professional players from the NBA. The team has been described by many around the world as the greatest sports team ever assembled.

Fans begged Team America to release a tape of Dream Team that could be played over and over in reality. Finally, that dream can become a reality with the upcoming documentary ‘Dream Team’.

As part of a promotion for the same, one of the Dream Team members, Karl Malone recently appeared on the Dan Patrick Show. The Jazz forward was asked about two players from 1992’s ‘Dream Team’ he would feature with, and Malone surprisingly chose Pippen over Michael Jordan. He continued to say –

“I have to say, I would have to start it with Scottie Pippen,” he added, “Remember around the time Michael retired? – second, third – I watched Scottie Pippen when the Chicago Bulls weren’t playing really well. ”

“And Scottie led that team in every statistical category. And I just remember that. He wants to stop the best player of the other team. That would be pretty cool, to see Scottie defending Michael. ”

He picked his second player, saying, “My second will be Magic.”

Arguably, Scottie Pippen would be more valuable in the NBA today due to the less positional basketball we see today. However, whatever the reason, to choose him over GOAT, Michael Jordan was, as Stephen A.Smith would say, “Blasphemous”.

Does Karl Malone really believe he wants to build a team around Scottie Pippen? Or does he still hold a grudge against Michael Jordan because of what happened in the past? At the end of the day, only the Postman himself knows the answer.
