I won’t give my husband our wifi password until he gets a job and pays his share…it’s a privilege he doesn’t deserve

A WOMAN, 32, explained that she was so fed up with her husband, 30, sitting on his phone all day instead of looking for a job that she refused to give him the WiFi password.

The woman explained that she considered internet access a privilege and that he didn’t deserve it since he didn’t pay the bills.

She said she was frustrated because three months had passed since he was fired from his last position and she felt he had done nothing to find more work.

She told Reddit, “My husband and I are going through some financial struggles right now. The reason is that my husband lost his job.

“He wasn’t making much retail anyway, was overworked and underpaid.

“He said the reason he lost his job was because of his narcissistic boss.

“Money is tight and the burden fell entirely on me to take care of us and pay for everything, including wifi. But he promised to get a job!”

The woman explained that although he said he was actively looking for work, he appeared to be doing nothing.

She said: “My husband spent most of his time on his cell phone.

“I keep asking him if he’s looking for a job and he would say yes, but it’s been three months now.

“I paid so much for wifi service because of his endless activities on the internet.

“I didn’t say anything until I met his former boss at the supermarket.

“We spoke about my husband and I raised him about how he fired him but he looked at me confused and told me he didn’t fire him from working in retail and that he will never work in that field again.

“I was shocked and also angry. I went home and confronted him. He admitted it was true and asked for my understanding because he was sick of having to work as a server for rude, obnoxious people who don’t respect him like they should.

“I asked what he would do then and he said he had thought about going back to school to get a respectable degree and a ‘decent’ job.

“I asked where he was getting the money to go back to school and he shrugged and said I could set up a ‘fund’ for him with my salary because, as he said, he was no longer in the retail will work.

“I lost it to him and told him I won’t save money for anything if I can barely make it.

“I told him I was losing so much money on WiFi service, so I changed the password that banned him from using the internet again until he started paying for it.

“He got angry and yelled that I was depriving him of his rights to use the internet.

“But I said the internet is a privilege, not a right, but he called me selfish and unsupportive.

“I later went to work and he kept calling me and telling me to reveal the password, but I always refused.”

Other Redditors were quick to jump in with their opinions on the situation.

One person said, “Are you sure you want to be married to a legitimate, lying man you treated like a toddler?”

Another said: “You have bigger problems than a password.”

A third person said: “Whatever he’s done in the last three months isn’t job hunting (unless he’s looking for jobs he’s underqualified for as he despises retail), especially if he uses the internet enough to become a financial burden .

“He lied about his last job with his boss and how he left it and only admitted the lie when you confronted him with the truth.

“This is the time to re-evaluate the relationship if you know what you are doing now and whether or not you think it is worth taking a chance on your husband.”
