THE maid of honor at her twin’s wedding said her siblings were furious after leaving just two hours after the event – but she insists their reason is more important than her sister’s big day.
The woman posted an anonymous post about an incident on Reddit’s AITA page, using the username TASisterWedding.
She shared how she attended her twin’s wedding on Friday but was forced to leave when her son suffered a head injury.
But she said her sister didn’t get it and was furious that she “abandoned” her on their wedding day.
The twin began recounting what happened at their sister’s wedding by saying that she was very close to her sister “and best friends”.
“She has no children and I have two children,” she said.
Their children are two boys aged three months and one month old.
“Obviously she loves her nephews, she’s never abused them, but she’s not a person who would accept babysitting for a day,” she said in the Post.
“She has never offered to help with anything, although it’s her choice and I respect her.”
The wedding was reportedly childless “even for the family.”
While she attended her sister’s wedding party as maid of honor, her two children stayed with their paternal grandparents.
“I was responsible for a few things at the ceremony and the party, nothing complex,” she said. “But I asked another bridesmaid for help, so she sorted it out too.”
leaving the wedding
About two hours after the wedding, she said she got a call from her in-laws.
She said they called “and said my youngest hit his head playing with my oldest and they were taking him to the hospital.”
“I was distraught, even though they said he was conscious, my heart wasn’t at peace, as was my husband’s, so we decided to go to the hospital.”
After explaining her duties to the bridesmaid to whom she delegated her duties, she went to tell her sister that she was leaving.
“When it came time to speak to my sister, she had a meltdown and said I couldn’t walk at the most important moment of her life,” the Post said.
The bride asked her sister if she would prefer her son over her, the post reads.
“I was very irritated and said, ‘Yes, I choose my son in the hospital.’ I went with her, she cursed me.”
As it turned out, her son was fine. She said he had no internal trauma but had to have two stitches.
After a period in the hospital with her son while her phone was off, she said she came home to receive a lot of calls from different people, “and I answered when I saw my sister’s.”
The twin sister asked how her nephew was doing and was apparently quite upset to learn he had a minor injury.
“She started screaming and saying that I left her at the most important moment of her life and that she was without family in her own marriage (no parents and grandparents),” she said.
“I left my responsibilities to a person who did everything wrong and caused an embarrassment and to make matters worse I didn’t even want to show up as my husband could remain in the hospital.”
Her sister called her several names while yelling at her on the phone for wanting to leave the wedding, she said.
“Until my husband grabbed my phone and told her to fuck off.”
The Post went on to say that she actually could have thrown her sister’s party, “but I wouldn’t be able to know my baby was in the hospital. I can’t help but feel ashamed of my sister.”
She asked if she was wrong about the situation, and Reddit responses poured in.
Someone quoted a statement in her post, “…she started screaming and said I left her…” and added, “She would rather you let your child go to stay with this grown woman? [She’s in the wrong!]”
“To quote my boss (literally 3 hours ago), ‘If your family had a problem and you weren’t distracted by it, I would think less of you,'” said another comment.
Another person added: “I think I’m the only person who doesn’t consider stabbing and a concussion a minor injury. I mean it could have been life threatening!”
