“I want to cuddle with my kids one last time and I told my husband to move on and not marry any chicks,” says Deborah James

SUN writer Deborah James says she didn’t want her kids to see her suffer at the end of her life – and just craved one last cuddle.

The 40-year-old, who raised £3million in three days with her Bowelbabe Fund, praised husband Seb for his “incredible support” and told him “don’t marry chicks”.

She dropped out of colon cancer treatment and is receiving end-of-life care at her parents’ home.

Deborah broke down in tears at BBC Breakfast yesterday, main picture, recalling emotional conversations she had with her children Eloise, 12, and Hugo, 14.

And she told the Times: “It was horrible telling my kids. My first thought was “I don’t want them to see me like that”.

“I didn’t think I could talk to them without crying, but I’d like to cuddle one last time.”

The cancer activist said she’s been working through her “death administration,” with letters to her children high on her “to do” list.

She explained, “I want them to have letters at milestones and fun messages: Here’s my advice on your wedding day; What to do on the first date?”

Of husband Seb, she said: “I don’t think I’ve ever seen my husband so emotional. He suddenly realized the enormity of it.

“I gave him strict instructions: I want him to continue. He’s a handsome man, I say, ‘Don’t be fooled, don’t marry a chick, find someone else who can make you laugh like we can’.”

Deborah has also planned her funeral to spare her family the ordeal.

She said: “It sounds morbid but I want a somber funeral in black and white because I think people look good in black and white.

“I’m thinking about asking people to bring a photo or a funny anecdote so my family can cherish the memories. I want to play Tell Me It’s Not True by Blood Brothers.

“My children love to read poetry with me. If you feel like it, I would be happy to let you read it.”
