I used to work at Nando’s, we had a trick to get customers to spend more and it usually worked

A NANDO’S employee has revealed the trick they used to trick customers into spending more when they eat at the restaurant.

The popular fast-food chain is known for its chicken, but that’s not the way they encourage customers to spend more.

The former anonymous worker revealed the tricks of the trade they learned while employed at Nando’s.

They told the Express: “When I was at the checkout we had to ask questions that looked like you were just being nice to customers.

“But actually they should make you buy more.”

And the trick is to offer customers olives that cost £3.75.

The former employee added, “As I casually had to say, ‘Fancy some olives while you wait for the food to come?'”

And the employees always had to say it before they said, “Is that so” or “Anything else?

That way, customers are more likely to add them when they’re already placing their order.

But of course the olives are not free.

They explain that it hasn’t worked for every customer, but many would be persuaded to add them.

They added that they would often do the same with drink orders as well.

As any Nando’s visitor knows, the soft drinks come with unlimited refills, but the juices don’t.

They said if someone orders a juice they have to automatically ask if they want to add another drink to their order.

That way they would pay for another glass, the same glass that the juice goes in.

They explained: “So when they finish drinking the juice, they could use the same to drink cola.

“That way they end up with two glasses, which is completely unnecessary.”
