But one woman from the US was stunned to discover the rather memorable gift left by the previous tenants.

And unfortunately for Kenzie, it wasn’t a bottle of congratulatory champagne or a bouquet of flowers.

Taking to TikTok, she shared a short clip in which she was seen rolling back the rug to reveal a vent in the wooden floorboard below.

She then bends down and sticks her arm inside before removing several dirty bowls and bowls of old, moldy food.

Alongside the video, she explains, “The previous owners stuffed the air vents with dirty dishes.”

And many of her social media users were horrified by the rank discovery.

Kenzie replied: “They probably did! The whole house was disgusting. The walls were yellow and the carpet was super stained.”

A second commented: “Everyone talks about not noticing the dishes but what about the SMELL?”

A third joked: “That has a teenager written on it.”

Another quipped: “You are brave!!! no gloves? I would have been in a full hazmat suit before touching these.”

Meanwhile, another added: “It’s a teenage trick… trying to get out of the dishes.

“Mine used to throw my dishes down the hill never to be seen again. Lazy as hell.”
