I have decided to uninvite my mother from my wedding after she gave my fiancee a very cruel gift

A BRIDE-to-be has made the decision to invite her mother out of her big day after allegedly giving her husband a very cruel gift.

Speaking to popular discussion platform Reddit, the shocked woman revealed that her mother had given her fiancé, who uses a wheelchair, a pair of running shoes.

She claimed her mother was very angry with her partner from the start

In the post, she claimed to have met her future husband at a group therapy session, where she later learned he had lost his mother in the same accident that left him disabled.

However, the cruel gift the poster revealed wasn’t the first time her mother tried to poke fun at the unfortunate situation and humiliate the “kind” and “generous” fiancé.

“She kept making jokes about him and often teased him [sic]”, the bride-to-be described her mother’s behavior at the beginning of their relationship.

At one point, she had even “jokingly joked that he was responsible for the accident.”

As it turns out, that particular remark was made on the anniversary of his mother’s death and caused the groom-to-be to burst into tears — something the mother later apologized for.

After the incident, the mother asked if she could attend his birthday parties and her future son-in-law told her to come.

“She came and was all loving and cheerful, she apologized for the past ‘misunderstanding’ and my STBH (husband-to-be) was confused by her change of heart.

“We had a great time until after dinner. She gave him a box saying this was her present for his birthday.”

The mother had placed a pair of Nike running shoes in the box.

“He looked at her and she started laughing and then said something about being optimistic and hoping that one day he would use her.

“I lost it and we both started yelling at each other and she said it was just a joke.

“I said it was a complete humiliation because she basically wanted to rub it in his face that he is who he is.”

Although her partner tried to reassure everyone by saying everything was fine, his future wife disagreed and took her mother outside for a chat.

There, she claimed that she didn’t plan for things to take such a turn, adding that he “could use more therapy because his reaction should have been laughter.”

“I said she’s no longer welcome to the wedding. She feigned shock and said I was really taking this too seriously, but I insisted that she return the invitation.

Upon hearing the argument, her father joined the two in trying to act like the mediator, asking his daughter not to make an impulsive decision that she might later regret.

Despite all efforts, the bride-to-be stuck to her decision and kept saying “no”.

Voted unanimously as NTA (Not the A**hole), the woman was supported by many who believed her to be right.

“Don’t invite her to your wedding again. To be honest, after the way she acted on both of those occasions, I would consider cutting her out of my life entirely,” one suggested.

Someone else agreed, adding: “Definitely don’t invite your mum back. But you should send her a present.

“You should get her a special custom mother of the bride poster and send it with a card that says, ‘Haha, get it, it’s funny because you’re not going!'”
