But the 25-year-old discovered both nipples had lost all their blood three days later and turned black.

The influencer from Miami, USA, said: “My takeaway from this experience is that it’s much better to just have the surgery once.

“I think the necrosis and problems with my recovery and pain were all due to my body not being able to cope with so many incisions to heal.

“My nipples were so black that it looked like they were burned, completely dead.

“I was panicking and worried that I would look like I had cancer with no nipples at all.”

Since then, she decided to share the shocking photos to warn others of possible complications.

Alejandra paid $20,000 for her five-day surgery and had to take strong painkillers to cope.

The model said: “My mind was all over the place at that time.

“They gave me a cream to put on the necrotic parts of me so the dead skin would soften and come off.

“Most of the time it’s there but in some parts they have to cut it off with scissors.

“Then some of my pectoral muscles came loose through the stitches and I needed a second surgery to put everything back together.

“Thankfully I healed well after that.”

Now fully recovered, Alejandra has written an e-book about her experience – Results After Cutting.

She wants to offer a warning to other women considering surgery and encourage them to do research on ways to prevent side effects.

What experts say:

Hazim Saideen, consultant plastic and reconstructive surgeon at the Cadogan Clinic in Chelsea, London, shares advice for patients considering surgery.

“Smoking can significantly increase the risk of complications after surgery.

“Nicotine and carbon monoxide from cigarettes restrict the flow of air to the lungs, which need to be operating at 100% capacity during general anesthesia.

“Smoking affects circulation, reducing blood flow to the skin, slowing wound healing.

“Cigarette smoke also increases the risk of infections and heart-related complications and negatively impacts the immune system. Smoking is recommended at least six weeks before any major procedure.”

Meanwhile, some vitamins can “interfere” with the anesthetic process.

Some vitamins should be avoided before surgery, which can affect anesthesia, bleeding and healing, but some are extremely helpful for optimizing health and healing, says Saideen.

“Vitamins like vitamins C, D & E and zinc can help with immunity support and healing, however some supplements and extracts like garlic and turmeric can increase the risk of bruising and bleeding. “

If you decide to have surgery, do your research about all the risks and be sure to find a surgeon and clinic experienced in the procedure you’re interested in.

Read doctor’s patient reviews and testimonials, check their qualifications, and see before and after photos of similar operations they’ve done.

Alejandra said: “I have met a lot of women with gangrene and infections like what happened to me.

“Before I suffered, I didn’t know how common these problems were after plastic surgery.

“We don’t know why it happened to me but I especially want women to think carefully about having surgery more than once because it puts a lot of stress on the body trying to recover.

“After this experience, I don’t think I will have another procedure other than maybe cosmetic tattooing to improve the scars around the nipples.

“Now I only have a tiny bit of areola left, only about 2cm.

“But I’m grateful for how well I’ve healed. I feel beautiful now.”
