And one woman got more than she bargained for when she had an allergic reaction after lip plumping.
Monica Rooney, 20, took to the social media platform to share her lip plumper story.
She said: “Getting your lips ready and not getting a patch test first.”
In Monica’s video, she shows off her badly bruised and red lips after performing the procedure.

In another video, Monica confirmed she went to the hospital after noticing the abnormal reaction to the lip filler, where she was told she had had an allergic reaction.
She explained, “You get your lips done and you end up with an allergic reaction and a hematoma.”
A hematoma is an abnormal collection of blood outside of a blood vessel.
It occurs because the wall of a blood vessel wall, artery, vein, or capillary has been damaged and blood has leaked into tissues where it doesn’t belong.
The hematoma can be tiny, with just a point of blood, or it can be large and cause significant swelling.
Monica’s video clearly shocked many as it garnered a whopping 30.2k views.

TikTok users were shocked by the size and look of Monica’s lips and used the comments to express it.
Additionally, many were shocked that patch testing before lip plumper was even an option.
One person said, “I’ve never had a patch test.” To which Monica replied, “Yeah, you don’t have to, but I had an allergic reaction to the filler.”
Another added, “Didn’t even know you needed patch testing, how do they do patch testing, never heard of it,” to which Monica said, “It’s not a required thing.”
A third commented: “Ouch.”
Luckily, Monica confirmed that the swelling has gone down and she is now happy with her lips.
One TikToker asked, “Will they stay like this?” to which Monica confirmed, “No, they’ve gone down a lot from here.”
