I got beat up for my millennial closet

A TIKTOKER who got slammed for his millennial wardrobe shows how she upgraded it with pieces she already owned.
TikTok user Julia, known on the platform as @beingjulia, has an ongoing series of videos in which she updates millennial looks to be more trending.

In her ongoing series, Julia takes traditional millennial outfits and updates them to fit Gen Z driven trends.
So far there are more than 15 videos in Julia’s series.
She told Buzzfeed, “I think style is less busy now that more basics are being featured along with ’90s or Y2K inspired cuts and styles.
“I feel like a lot of millennials are reluctant to update since they saw similar styles trending years ago, but this is fashion for you!”

It provides head-to-head comparisons between Millennial and Gen Z outfits and how it’s possible to update them.
One outfit she showcases is a denim jacket with black leggings and a long, flowy white shirt.
Julia says that swapping out the flowy blouse for a fitted crop top or tank top instantly makes the outfit feel more Gen Z.
You can also opt to trade in a fitted denim jacket for an oversized one.
Another millennial trend that Julia avoids is the kimono and cropped shorts outfit with a simple top.
She suggests swapping out the kimono for a blazer that’s almost the length of the shorts for a better fit.
Julia says that opting for a midi or mid-length skirt instead of a maxi skirt makes for a cuter look with a crop top.
She also says that off-the-shoulder shirts are out. This also applies to open shirts.
Instead, opt for tops with shoulder pads for a trendier look.

Swap ruffles for clean, straight lines to stay on trend, too.
A good general tip is to mix loose and tight clothing to find a better balance within outfits.
