I found out my daughter was doing porn when a friend of her grandma showed her a video

PORN stars have lifted the lid on how their mothers discovered they were in the adult industry – and their reactions afterwards.

Aurora Snow, a former adult star turned columnist and author, spoke to a host of industry peers to celebrate Mother’s Day.

And she also wrote about how her own mother discovered her job after getting a tip from her grandmother.

Writing in the Daily Beast, she revealed that she had been in the industry for about six months, aged 18, when her 70-year-old grandmother visited a friend’s house.

The man, who was in his late 70s and still watched adult entertainment films, had a VHS tape with snow on the cover on his coffee table.

Snow said: “Grandma got an eye-catcher: her naked 18-year-old granddaughter on the cover. This old lady ran all the way home and her very first call was my mom.”

She says her mother’s reaction was shocked and she asked, “Why? What did you need so badly that you did this?! You’re so smart, why waste it on that?”

But Snow said it was a relief that she no longer had to hide her career choice and that her mother continued to support her.

Fellow pornstar Avery Jane said her own mother found out after an email from her father.

“Someone emailed my dad, who in turn contacted my mom and told her,” she explained.

Jane, who was nominated for the 2021 XCRITIC Awards for Best New Starlet, said her mother initially denied it.

Jane said: “[She] said, “I heard something, and I know it’s not true, it better not be true.” In that moment, I knew what she was referring to.”

But Jane says her mother understood that her career opened up opportunities for her that she hadn’t had before.

“It brought us closer. I see this unconditional love of a mother. She hasn’t let me down or freaked out like everyone else,” says Jane.

Jane told the Beast that before she entered the adult industry, she was in danger of losing her home and couldn’t eat all the time because she was too paranoid about spending money on groceries.

But not all stars had such a simple and frank conversation with their parents.

Hazel Grace says she dreads the day the woman who raised her discovers her work identity and hopes that never happens.

Though most of her siblings and birth mother are aware of her career, she was adopted and raised by her religious grandmother, who has no idea.

She says her adoptive mother, who is in her 70s, may not accept her choice.

She told the ‘Beast’: “My mum has been through a lot and when I told her I’m a lesbian and I clearly am not, but that’s what I thought when I was young, she reacted so hard. I don’t know how she will take it.

“I know how she was raised and what kind of environment she grew up in in rural Alabama.”
