Hundreds displaced on Thanksgiving after Worcester high-rise fire – Boston News, Weather, Sports

WORCESTER, MASS. (WHDH) — An early morning fire that broke out at a high-rise in Worcester forced hundreds of people from their homes on Thanksgiving.

Firefighters responding to a reported electrical fire on Laurel Street at about 3:45 a.m. found a problem in the building’s electrical room and were forced to cut power and evacuate the building.

Families displaced from their homes said finding a place to stay was particularly difficult on Thanksgiving. Meals and shelter were provided to those who had to evacuate.

AA Transportation helped transport displaced families to hotels.

It is unclear when they will be allowed to return.
