ST. CHARLES, Mo. — Large crowds poured into stores in search of Black Friday bargains.
Academy Sports and Outdoors in St. Charles has long lines at the checkout with people doing their Christmas shopping.
“I’m actually getting this Christmas shopping out of the way because I’m a local postman here in town and it’s almost time for us,” Chauncey Hudson said.
The crowds came in waves, giving workers ample time to stock up on supplies and take online orders.
“I’ve already done most of mine online and had to work this morning,” said Amanda Keizor. “So we kind of waited for the crowd because I heard it’s crazy this morning. So we’ll see what’s left and if they have any good offers that we can pick up.”
“We sold quite a few gun cabinets at our opening this morning. Lots of trampolines, lots of ride-on toys for the kids,” said Chuck Willis, store director of Academy Sports and Outdoors. “Lots of game tables, shuffleboards, ping pong tables and stuff like that. Our roll call sales were crazy today too.”
Willis said sales are up this year and a lot of people are shopping online.
“We actually had a team in the building working since midnight because we had about 300 online orders that we had to sort out for the event they were working on before we actually opened,” Willis said.
