Teleport in Minecraft can save you a ton of time when trying to explore your big, blocky world. You probably know if you’ve played a lot of Minecraft that much of the game is based around exploring the vast world. The further you explore, the more valuable and rare resources you have a chance to find.
This is where knowing how to teleport can help, as you can either shoot into the Nether to snag some of that Netherite before quickly returning to your base to make use of it.
How to teleport in Minecraft
Step 1: Activate cheats
To teleport in Minecraft, you must first enable cheats. When you create a new world, you should find the “Allow Cheats” option on the Create New World screen, just below the Game Mode setting. To enable cheats for an existing world, open the pause menu, select “Open for LAN,” then make sure it says “Allow Cheats: On.” If it shows as off, click on it and you’ll enable cheats.
On consoles and the “Bedrock” version of the game, go to the Game Settings screen, scroll down until you find “Cheats” and make sure the toggle next to “Enable Cheats” is green.
Step 2: Enter your coordinates
Next, you need to open the chat menu by pressing T on PC or by pressing right on the D-Pad on your console’s controller.
Type /tp or /teleport and then enter the XYZ coordinates you want to travel to. For example, if you want to travel to coordinates 95, 40, 65, enter:
Remember that the lowest ‘Y’ coordinate you can go to is -64. You can also check your current coordinates by pressing F3 on PC or FN + F3 on Mac so you can make a note of where you want to return to after you’re done in the area you’re teleporting to.
Teleport in a specific direction
If you don’t know the exact coordinates of where you want to teleport, but instead just want to go a long distance in a certain direction, you can use the tilde (~) to lock specific coordinates.
For example, if you want to fly just 20 blocks in the air from our original coordinates listed above, enter:
You can lock any of the XYZ coordinates with the tilde, so make sure to use that whenever you need it.
