How to make your Apple AirPods sound BETTER – genius hack takes minutes

YOUR AirPods could soon sound a whole lot better — all thanks to a clever iPhone trick.

Apple is currently testing a new feature that will improve the audio capabilities of their wireless earbuds.

The new hack is called Personalized Spatial Audio and it comes in iOS 16.

This is the new iPhone software announced at Apple’s WWDC 2022 in June.

It maps your face and tracks your ears to create a personalized directional “spatial audio” system.

This allows you to hear sounds in music or movies that support spatial audio exactly where they should be coming from.

“Personalized Spatial Audio enables an even more precise and immersive listening experience,” Apple describes the new iOS feature.

“Listeners can use the TrueDepth camera on iPhone to create a personal spatial audio profile that provides a listening experience tailored just for them.”

The feature only works on three AirPods models: AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max.

You must also run the new iOS 16 update.

This is coming out in September but is now in developer beta and public beta in July.

Only certain iPhone models can upgrade to iOS 16 – here’s the full list:

  • iPhone 13
  • iPhone 13 mini
  • iPhone 13 pro
  • iPhone 13 Pro max
  • iphone 12
  • iPhone 12 mini
  • iPhone 12 pro
  • iPhone 12 pro max
  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone 11 pro
  • iPhone 11 Pro max
  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone 8
  • iPhone 8plus
  • iPhone SE (2nd generation or newer)

You also need an iPhone with a TrueDepth camera for Face ID, which excludes some models — including the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

How to enable personalized spatial audio

First, make sure you’re running iOS 16 (even in beta) on an iPhone with Face ID.

Read our guide to joining the iOS 16 beta.

Now make sure your AirPods are connected to iPhone and then go to Settings.

Go to Bluetooth, then tap the “i” icon next to AirPods Pro.

Next select Spatial Audio and then Personalized Spatial Audio.

Then follow all the instructions to set it up.

You only have to do this once and it will then work for all supported AirPods.
