How does Free Comic Book Day work?
Don’t take the name too literally: you can’t just grab what you want off the shelves. Participating publishers print special editions for FCBD.
Some are reprints to introduce newbies to classic comics, while others are previews of upcoming comics or brand new titles teasing big crossover events.
Comics are usually labeled to indicate who they’re appropriate for: a green label appears on all-ages comics, blue means they’re suitable for teens, and a red “adult” banner means they’re suitable for themselves aimed at readers over the age of 18.
Demand is always high, so it’s never a bad idea to head to your local comic store early.
Additionally, FCBD releases are usually referred to as either “Silver Comics” or “Gold Comics”, the latter being applied to more popular titles from larger publishers such as Marvel and DC.
A store may limit the number of Gold Comics you can loot or have a different policy.
Where can I buy free Comic Book Day comics?
Almost every comic book store will have some FCBD releases, although every store may not have every comic. So you might want to hit more than one to get what you want.
