How to get Elytra in Minecraft

Minecraft’s unique items are coveted by many fans, including items such as armor enchantments and beacons. One in particular is Elytra, a set of rare wings that are the only flight mechanism available for Survival mode. If you are wondering how to get this item, here How to get Elytra in Minecraft?.

A step by step guide to get Elytra in Minecraft

  1. Find/create the end portal.

In survival mode, you can find the end portal by throwing the Eye of Ender in the air to lead you to a fortress. It will eventually go towards the ground if it is closer to the area.
Once the Eye of Ender falls straight into a block, dig under that section until you reach the fort. You will find the end portal after some time, but make sure you are prepared before entering it as you will have to fight the ender dragon to get the rare wings.
In creative mode, you can create the portal anywhere you want. You can also find instructions on how to create one here.

  2. Enter the end portal and defeat the ender dragon.

Elytra is located in the End City and the only way to get there is by defeating the Ender Dragon. If you want some tips and tricks on how to kill this beast efficiently, here is a guide.
The process is a bit easier in creative mode, since you have the option to fly and acquire all the items you need. Either method works as long as the ender dragon is eliminated.

  4. Enter the gate.

To get to the entrance, you can either fly up in creative mode or use blocks to guide your way there in survival mode. You must remove the bedrock around it if you wish to enter. Creative mode is the easiest option as you can easily break the blocks.
Bedrock is difficult to remove in Survival mode as these blocks are unbreakable. However, the Minecraft community has compiled a list of methods to break the bedrock and you can find them here.

Elytra can be found on an end ship near the end town, and finding it is harder than you think. The End City is a gigantic location full of Endermen where you have to build bridges to get through each area. The creative mode makes the experience a lot less stressful, but you still have to aimlessly fly around until you find the ship.
End city finders are available such as B. Chunkbase, which can help you in your expedition. You can also increase your render distance to give yourself a better chance of seeing the End City.
