It goes without saying that anything you put in your ear is likely to get a little dirty – and the same goes for your AirPods Pro, especially if you wear them to the gym.
Let them collect dirt, sweat, and wax, and you’ll soon have a pair of pocket-sized environmental hazards on your hands, but they’re easy to keep clean if you follow a few simple steps.

Use a cloth
Apple recommends using a “soft, dry, lint-free cloth” to clean your AirPods Pro, but one thing you should never do is hold them under a faucet or completely submerge them in water. They won’t like it at all.
Add some moisture
Your AirPods Pro are water resistant, but not fully waterproof. So if you spill something on it, you can dampen a cloth with some H2O and wipe it off, but be careful not to get any liquid in any of the holes.
Remove the earplugs
The AirPods Pro’s rubber earbuds are removable, so just gently pull until they break off.
Use a cotton swab
If earwax or other debris has built up in the speaker grilles, use a clean cotton swab or soft brush to remove it. Be careful not to scrub or press too hard.
Give the tips a conditioner
The ear tips are made of silicone, so you can safely hold them under the tap to remove dirt, but don’t be tempted to use soap or other household cleaners. Give them a tap to remove excess water.
Let everything dry
Use another cloth to wipe away any moisture and leave your AirPods and separate earbuds out of the case until they’re completely dry. Don’t reattach the earbuds, put away the buds, or try to use them beforehand.
