Hooters won’t be rebranded because millennials ‘don’t go for boobs’

On Wednesday, a media outlet made a shocking claim about an iconic restaurant known for its chicken wings and scantily clad staff.

“Hooters is being closed and rebranded after a new study shows millennials are ‘not that into boobs,'” according to the Daily Loud tweeted.

The tweet quickly went viral, garnering tens of thousands of likes and thousands of retweets and comments.

There’s just one problem: it’s not true.

The exciting tweet from The Daily Loud is an almost verbatim repetition of a headline from a 2018 Fresh Toast article.

“Hooters rebrands after study suggests millennials aren’t into boobs,” read the caption.

The Fresh Toast story followed a story from 2017 insider which noted that millennials’ “new attitude” is forcing the “Breastaurant” to close some locations.

This conclusion was based in part on Pornhub’s survey, which found that people aged 18-24 were 19% less likely to search for boobs on their site.

Many people pointed out that the Daily Loud spawned old news. Others had ideas on how Hooters could reach a younger demographic more effectively.

“Rename to Clappers and they will take over the market”, user @twrecks155 recommended.

Many people were fooled by the tweet.

“I hate this generation”, @Asmongold complained.

“National Tragedy” complains @SociableBarely.

Some commenters suggested the data set was flawed and that millennials actually enjoy being served by scantily clad waiters.

“The ballots were never mailed,” @MarkBatsonMusic tweeted.

Hooters fans can rejoice in the news that the tweet is inaccurate. Hooters confirmed that those orange shorts, stockings and white tank tops aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.

“This story has no validity. Diners are enjoying this week’s televised sporting events in record numbers at our restaurants across the country and around the world, accompanied by delicious dishes, cold beers and iconic hospitality,” a Hooters spokesperson told the Daily Dot via email on Wednesday .

“Our concept is here to stay,” they added.

The Daily Loud has neither corrected nor deleted the tweet as of this writing. It repeated the same claim on its Instagram account. The outlet did not immediately respond to a direct message sent via Instagram asking for comment.
