Hexham: Boy, 16, charged with murder of ‘beautiful’ schoolgirl, 15

A teenager has been charged with the murder of a ‘beautiful’ schoolgirl who was stabbed to death in Northumberland.
She was discovered injured just after 5.10pm and later died in hospital despite the best efforts of doctors.
A 16-year-old boy who was also taken to the hospital suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Another 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of an assault weapon.
He is due to appear before the judge in Newcastle on Monday.
Northumbria Police believe the suspect and victim knew each other and the murder is being treated as an isolated case.
“Holly had so much left to look forward to in life and this tragic incident has left her family beyond words,” said a spokesman for the troupe.
“Our thoughts are with both affected families and their loved ones as we continue to support them in any way we can.
“The investigation is ongoing and we would like to thank the people of Hexham – and beyond – who have been very helpful and have shown their support with our investigations.
“While our investigation continues, we believe all parties involved are known to each other and there is no major risk to the public.
“Officials will remain in the area over the coming days and we would encourage anyone with concerns to speak to them directly.”
