HEB employee calls out customers for improper use of Express Lane

A HEB worker went viral on TikTok after encountering a woman trying to check out more than 15 items on an expressway.

Userin Yainara (@yagirlyainara) posted a 19-second clip of her at the express lane checkout at HEB. Yainara shares her story of a difficult customer who pushed onto the expressway knowing she had more than the 15 item limit.

In the clip, Yainara says the lady nonchalantly announced that she will be checking out more than 15 items and Yainara stops her and tells her no.

“Girl, you know you shouldn’t be here,” Yainara says in the clip.

The video has been viewed over 180,000 times since its release on September 20, sparking debate in the comments with many siding with Yainara.

“It’s literally about keeping the lines shorter so someone with 15+ items is holding up the whole line with all their stuff making the line long,” commented one viewer.

“YES TELL THEM NO SEND THEM AWAY! I love watching them walk away,” said a second.

“I don’t work for HEB anymore, but it still bothers me! 15 or less,” agreed a third.

“I used to tell them no all the time and managers always had my back,” said a fourth.

Others disagreed with Yainara, giving various examples of why they would go to the expressway despite having more than 15 articles.

“Okay, I went to an express lane with 20 items because I was waiting 40 minutes on the regular lane. I like 5 more items???” one person asked.

“Yes, but sometimes the managers or whoever runs the registers tell us to go to the 15 or less,” shared a second.

Yainara responded to the comment, writing, “That’s not what I’m talking about, in our business they never send them all the way down to where I was.”

Yainara posted a follow-up video emphasizing that customers with 15 items or fewer should hit the expressway. In the caption, she explained that she “is going to die on that hill.” She went on to explain that most people claim to only have 17 or 20 items, but actually have 40 or more items in the express lane. Because of this, she doesn’t care if you have just one item more than the limit, she will send them to another checkout lane. In addition to the deception, Yainara does not want other customers to wait for the person with more items out of inconvenience.
