Heartbroken family after dream Disney vacation ruined by flight chaos

A family’s Disney dream vacation was ‘ruined’ after their flight was canceled ‘for no reason’.
Kelly Matthews had saved thousands of pounds to afford the trip for her and her son, nine-year-old Noah, and mother Mandy.
The trio arrived at Bristol Airport wearing Disney-inspired Mickey Mouse ears, ready for their vacation in Paris.
But it soon became apparent that their flights had been canceled “for no reason”.
Kelly, an intensive care nurse at Glangwili Hospital in Wales, had previously rescheduled the flight due to travel restrictions.
The trip was meant to be an opportunity to spend time with Noah and Mandy.
Kelly, from Saundersfoot in Pembrokeshire, insists they checked their flight status before leaving.
She said: “When we got to the airport I checked the app again.
“This time it was said it had been cancelled, with no reason given.
“So it was canceled in the time it took us to get to Bristol from West Wales and just four hours before it was due to start.
“We tried to get another flight but they were all booked; we tried to see if we could get to Paris from another airport but it just wasn’t possible.”
The holiday cost Kelly £2,000 and would have seen her stay at a hotel near Disney Resort between May 26 and 29.
But due to the cancellation, the family had to return to Wales with their dream holiday in ruins.
Kelly, 35, has since heard easyJet cancel the flight at such short notice because of “crew problems”.
To make matters worse, Disneyland won’t refund her for her park tickets because she didn’t cancel or reschedule within a 72-hour window.
Meanwhile, she has also lost the money for her accommodation in Paris, as the hotel claims that the non-arrival was not the hotel’s fault.
She said: “I’ve worked hard during the pandemic and my mum has helped me so much with childcare – I just wanted to say thank you with this trip.
“And Noah was so excited. We were all head to toe in Disney stuff at the airport – we had our ears and t-shirts on and everything! Now I’m just fighting to get my money back; I don’t know whether I want to or not.”
Kelly and her family were able to enjoy a holiday of sorts when they managed to arrange a last-minute break at the popular Bluestone Resort in Pembrokeshire.
But it didn’t manage to completely distract from the lost journey.
“We were so excited to bring Noah to Disneyland,” Kelly added.
“The worst thing is nobody is taking responsibility for this and there was no help at all from easyJet.
“Even if they refund the flight, I want the vacation I worked so hard to get that was taken away from me.”
EasyJet was contacted by Metro.co.uk for comment.
