Healthcare workers run into COVID-positive patients at Ross

In a viral TikTok, a healthcare worker claimed to have come across a person with known COVID-19 while they were shopping at Ross.

The video posted by @eliicoco shows her waiting in line while wearing a mask and exfoliating. The text overlay on her video reads: “When you see the patient you previously swabbed tested positive for Covid in the line at Ross.”

The text continues: “I told you to stay home and recover sis.”

The video has more than 1.6 million views on TikTok and thousands of comments.

Viewers cannot see from TikTok what the patient looks like; All that was visible were their pink shoes and black leggings. It looked like they were holding a shopping cart in front of them.

At the end of December, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Proposal to shorten the quarantine period for COVID-19 patients who are no longer showing symptoms. But people with positive cases still need to isolate for at least five days — and wear masks around others after that time is up.

As a result, many commenters took @eliicoco’s TikTok as a sign that the pandemic won’t be over anytime soon. Many implied that the patient at Ross was selfish not to go home and instead risked spreading the virus.

“I have abandoned people with common sense, morality and conscience,” one comment read.

“Oh, I’ll LIVE,” said another TikToker.

“And this is why it will NEVER GO,” commented another viewer.
