Harry and Meghan could fear they will be “loosened from the royal image” following a redesign of the royal family’s website.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who once sat about halfway down the site, have been “downgraded” to places just above the disgraced Prince Andrew.

The couple’s position on the website was changed after the Queen’s death.

Royal biographer Phil Dampier told The Sun: “Harry and Meghan must be concerned that they are slowly being eroded from the royal picture.

“King Charles seems hesitant about bestowing the titles of prince and princess on Archie and Lilibet

“And the fact that they have been ‘downgraded’ on the palace website is another indicator that they are not considered working royals.”

The couple, who retired as working royals in 2020, are now placed among the likes of Princess Alexandra and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester on the royal family’s website.

But other non-working royals, like Prince Michael of Kent and his wife, have been removed from the site entirely.

Whether Harry and Meghan will meet a similar fate is unknown, but Mr Dampier suggests King Charles wants to “make clear” their roles as non-working royals.

The website revamp comes amid rumors the new monarch has plans for a “slimmed down” monarchy.

To achieve that, he could cut key family members from the company, the unofficial nickname for the royals.

Mr Dampier told the Sun: “The King will want to make it clear that they are not royal members and cannot impersonate semi-official royal persons.

“They have fallen to the bottom of the table with the disgraced Prince Andrew and at the moment there is no way they can move up.”

Recent changes to the website have been enacted to emphasize the role played by working members of the royal family – not the order of succession – of course.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: “Live updates on a website don’t quite work. We will work to update the website as soon as we receive information.’
