Hamburg shooter who shot dead seven Jehovah’s Witnesses named

German police are still looking for a possible motive on Friday after the gunman opened fire at a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Hamburg, killing seven people.

“Eight people are dead – including the alleged perpetrator,” the city police said in their most recent statement. “Other people were injured in the incident, some seriously.”

Chancellor Olaf Scholz, former mayor of Hamburg, described the shooting as “a brutal act of violence”.

According to Spiegel, the suspect is said to be a former member of the congregation that gathered at the center for a Bible study meeting.

On his personal website, F. says he grew up in a strictly religious family in Kempten in the Allgäu and trained as a bank clerk after school.

He later settled in Hamburg and began working as a management consultant, charging an astronomical daily rate for his services.

F. writes: “Since it is usually advisable to see things in a larger context, my minimum daily rate is 250,000 euros plus 19 percent VAT”.

He justified his exorbitant fees by claiming that he was generating millions in revenue for his clients.

The killings took place around 9 p.m. local time in the northern German city, with police initially unsure of how many gunmen could be involved.

However, later updates from the city’s police force indicated that there was only one attacker who is believed to have died at the scene.

Student Laura Bauch, who lives nearby, said there were around four shootings, German news agency DPA reported.

“There were always multiple shots during those periods, roughly 20 seconds to a minute apart,” she said.
