“Hakeem Olajuwon is the greatest defender in NBA history, not Draymond Green!”: Nick Wright continues to kick Warriors forward for claiming to be the greatest defender ever

Draymond Green is one of the best players to ever do it in a possession-defensive position. However, is he the greatest? FS1 reporter Nick Wright certainly doesn’t think so.

The Warriors have had no problems scoring this season, ranking second in the NBA in offensive rating. And yet, their defense is even more impressive. A big reason why none other than Draymond Green, who have been their defensive anchor for a few seasons now.

With six All-Defensive picks on his resume, it’s hard to believe that Green just got a DPOY Award. However, currently the best defender on the best defensive team in the NBA, the striker is firmly in the race for his second DPOY award.

The NBA 3x champion’s impressive defensive performance has sparked talk of the place he ranks among the greatest defenders of all time.

In fact, Green has repeatedly said that he is the greatest defender in NBA history.

However, FS1 reporter Nick Wright clearly disagrees with this action and has harsh words for the 31-year-old player. So, what exactly did he say? Read and learn…

Nick Wright insists Hakeem Olajuwon and Tim Duncan are better defenders than Draymond Green.

Draymond Green is an elite defender. However, to call him the greatest defender of all time is perhaps a bit difficult. In fact, Nick Wright repeated the same thing in a recent sitting. He continued to say –

“Draymond Green has come out and again and said he is the greatest defender in NBA history. And, listen, Draymond is one of the greatest defenders ever. Stop. Here’s the deal, Draymond. ”

“The two greatest defenders in modern NBA history are: number 2, somehow underrated Tim Duncan, and number 1 with a bullet, undoubtedly the greatest defensive player in 50 years. past in the NBA, Hakeem“The Dream”Olajuwon. ”

“Hakeem Olajuwon is the greatest defender of all time and I am not asking you to enter (old archives) to see tapes of him. Your careers are almost overlapping each other. So I respect you Draymond, but calm down a bit. Hakeem “The Dream”: The Greatest Defender Ever. Everyone knows that. Continue. Thank you, Draymond. ”

Although what he said was quite harsh, in the end it was still the truth. Hakeem Olajuwon is the greatest defender in NBA history.

How good is Hakeem Olajuwon really in defense?

When basketball fans talk about Hakeem Olajuwon’s greatness, it’s always his ‘dream swing’, his swings, fake hits and smooth jumps brought up. However, what’s lost in all of this is the real reason why Hakeem is one of the best at doing it: his defense.

Hakeem Olajuwon leads the NBA’s all-time savers list with an astounding 3,830 saves. The next player on the list is Dikembe Mutombo with 3,289 blocks. However, Green was slightly better in steals, averaging 1.4 per game in his career. Meanwhile, Dream averages 1.7 steals per game.

The inventory gap, which is a combination of steals and blocks, which according to Bill Simmons is the best way to gauge a defender’s dominance, is even higher. Dray’s top stock season is again 2016-2017, hitting a respectable 260 shares.

However, Olajuwon peaked at 550 stocks during his career in 1989-1990. Furthermore, he had 13 consecutive seasons where he had more stocks than Green’s best season and didn’t sink to Green’s level until he was past his prime. Hakeem Olajuwon has two of those picks for Green, and Olajuwon also has a total of nine All-Defense picks for Green’s five picks.

All that being said, Green is clearly a very good defender. Is he a great person? I think we can put that label on whoever has won a DPOY. However, is he the greatest defender of all time? Not even close.
