Grandma bitten to death by pit bull who found her starving on the street

A grandmother was beaten to death by a pit bull she rescued from the streets as a starving stray.
Anne Shields, a British expat living in Spain, named the dog Choccy after taking him to her holiday home in Macastre, near Valencia.
Her daughter told The Sun she wanted to put Choccy in a local animal shelter, but was told they didn’t have a place.
“She was an animal lover and couldn’t face the thought of throwing Choccy back on the street,” said Sarah, 43.
Ms Shields decided to look after the stray cat until she found him a home – but Choccy suddenly turned on her.
Neighbors alerted police after hearing screams coming from the property, and they arrived to find the former security guard with “catastrophic” head and arm injuries.
Officials shot the dog to give paramedics a chance to rescue the pensioner.
She was taken to the hospital but died the next day.
“It’s a nightmare,” added Sarah von Preston. “She stayed with him and then this happened.”
Pit bulls are a banned breed in the UK, but they can be kept with a license in Spain as they are “potentially dangerous”.
