Not ready to say goodbye! TV shows inevitably come to an end every year, but that doesn’t mean letting our favorite characters go is easy.
After a rocky few years of filming delays and setbacks at premieres amid the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the 2022 TV panel came out with panache.
fan favorites such as Grace and FrankieThis is us and the Walking Dead everyone was preparing to say goodbye to the viewers, even if many television lovers were not ready for the end.
“We are both delighted and heartbroken about it Grace and Frankie will be back for its seventh, albeit final, season. We are so grateful that our show was able to address issues that are truly connected to our great generation.” Jane Fonda and Lili Tomlin, who play Grace Hanson and Frankie Bergstein, respectively, said in a joint statement in September 2019. “And their children, and amazingly their children too! We’ll miss these two old gals, Grace and Frankie, as much as many of their fans, but we’ll still be there. We’ve outlasted so many things – let’s just hope we don’t outlive the planet.”
Brooklyn Deckerswho played Grace’s daughter Mallory Hanson in the Netflix hit, gushed about working with the two legends when she said farewell to the show in April.
“It was the privilege of my life. Thank you to our writers, crew, cast, partners and families,” Decker wrote via Instagram on April 24 ahead of the final chapter of Grace and Frankies Netflix is down later this month. “I can’t believe it’s been 8 years, I still can’t believe we were shut down during a pandemic and then we were able to come back and end it perfectly.”
The Ohio native continued, “To everyone who laughed and cried with us – thank you for watching, thank you for being on this ride with us. To the women depicted, [Tomlin, Fonda and June Diane Raphael], you all mean so much to me. I’m the happiest woman in the whole country.”
The cast of This is ushas been vocal about concluding its sixth and final season in 2022. The family drama, which will end on May 24, stars Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissie Metz and Justin Hartley.
“I think what I will miss the most [playing] Kate is that, I think so many people – not even just women – relate to her and her imperfect walk through her trials and tribulations and all the shame and guilt that has borne her for so long,” Metz said exclusively Us weekly in January. “And it’s really like a torch that she carries, and I think … that’s really special, meeting people that I’ve never met before and being able to cry with them in the bathroom about it, what they are going through.”
