The ABC personalities raised eyebrows in November 2022 when they were caught cozying up in photos released by Daily Mail. According to the outlet, the snaps were taken throughout the month. A picture from a weekend getaway to a cottage showed Holmes touching Robach’s bottom as she put bags in the trunk of a car.
Neither broadcaster immediately addressed the photos or revealed whether they had split from their respective spouses. (Both Robach and Holmes were married twice.)
As rumors surfaced about the morning show’s hosts, they deactivated their individual Instagram accounts, which contained numerous posts showing their close friendship. Holmes also deactivated his Twitter page.
The Arkansas native’s connection to Robach “bloomed from a close friendship,” a source exclusively reported Us weekly amidst the controversy. “They always had the spark, and their work trips together brought them even closer together.”
According to the insider, the two “tried to keep their relationship a secret until they were ready to announce it.”
Eagle-eyed social media users dissected the couple’s posts before their accounts were wiped from the web, with some followers noting that Holmes shared a cryptic message about how to proceed before the scandal. “End the relationship and cry once. It’s better than being with them and crying every day,” the excerpt reads. He added in the caption, “Quote of the week.”
A previous upload from January 2022 suggested: “Change is never painful. It’s the resistance to change that hurts.”
The BET graduate joined ABC News in 2014 and frequently filled in the network’s morning show when needed. He became a regular cohort of GMA3 in September 2020. For her part, Robach started at ABC in 2012 and assumed her role GMA‘s third hour of March 2020.
Over the years, the two have been candid about the professional side of their relationship and their bond as co-anchors. “Robach and I have similar backgrounds and respect each other’s journeys,” Holmes said Resident Magazine in April 2021. “We really appreciate where we are with this show. We could have plotted and planned a possible show, but this one just happened, and it happened naturally.”
At the time, the University of Arkansas graduate noted that he felt “blessed” to get along so well with Robach. “When you trust each other, you can be your authentic and true self,” he explained. “They will have your back and not try to make you look bad or stupid. Holmes and Robach also trained together for the Spring 2022 NYC Half Marathon.

Holmes and Marilee Fiebig married in 2010, three years after his separation from his ex-wife Amy Ferson. Amid the journalist’s relationship controversy, Fiebig made her Instagram profile private.

Us reached out to the alleged couple for comment in November 2022, but news anchors did not immediately respond. A day after their cozy photos made headlines, Holmes and Robach returned GMA for the third hour of the show.
