Glasgow Clyde College is hosting the Minecraft Virtual Metaverse Open House

A college is set to become the first in the UK to host an interactive metaverse open house – with a campus replicated in Minecraft.
Glasgow Clyde College said it made the decision after experts predicted more time will be spent in virtual worlds than in the real world by 2030.
It says it wants to give pupils completing their exams in Scotland next week a glimpse of the future by launching the UK’s first-ever interactive Metaverse open house, encouraging them to log in or watch live on Twitch and exploring the Langside campus in Minecraft.
Studies indicate that almost four fifths of Generation Z play video games and futurologists predict that large parts of everyday life will be lived exclusively in 3D online worlds in the future.
The entire Langside campus in south Glasgow has been meticulously recreated in Minecraft – one of the world’s most popular interactive 3D computer games.
The college says this creates an environment for players to interact with and explore.
The main building, theatre, gym, small pitches and student centers are all in place.
Minecraft is played by more than 120 million people around the world every day, with almost half of the players aged between 15 and 21.
Described as the online version of “Lego,” players can use blocks to build almost anything they want.
John Rafferty, Deputy Headmaster at Glasgow Clyde College said: “Open houses are a really important part of the decision-making process, an opportunity to get a glimpse of where you might be studying next.
“Whether it’s through computer games or social media, many of these students already have a foot in the Metaverse and we wanted to bring our world into theirs by showing them the best that Glasgow Clyde College has to offer as an area they are drawn from.” can explore their game from console.
“In the next decade, many young people expect to work jobs, spend money and regularly connect with friends online. As such, we are proud to be the first college in the UK to host a 3D cyberspace open house, welcoming prospective students to an incredible recreation of one of our largest campuses.’
The Metaverse Open House goes live Wednesday at 4 p.m.
