Germany: Six people killed in gunfire at Hamburg church

At least six people were killed and others seriously injured in a shootout in Germany.

Police rushed to the scene of a church in Hamburg at 9 p.m. amid unconfirmed reports of shooters on the run.

In a statement on Twitter, the force confirmed “that there is a major police operation in Alsterdorf”.

“According to initial findings, a shot was fired in a church on Deelbögestrasse in the Groß Borstel district.

“Several people were seriously injured, some even fatally. We are on site with a large contingent of emergency services. Further information follows.”
