Gary Neville has directed his anger at Manchester United owners as Brentford beat the Red Devils for the first time in 84 years.

Former United defender Neville has in the past been vocal in his criticism of the Glazer family and once again turned against United owners when Brentford beat them 4-0 in their first win over the club since February 1938.

United were abysmal in the game and goalkeeper David de Gea blamed the defeat after two big mistakes for the first two goals they conceded.

Former United midfielder Owen Hargreaves defended De Gea after his brutally candid post-match interview, instead pointing the finger at outfield players.

But Neville has targeted United’s hierarchy, telling Sky Sports: “When the business fails and doesn’t perform, it’s the owners of that business – it’s really that simple.

“It fails miserably. We now have a run down, rotting stadium that is now second rate. 20 years ago it was the best stadium in the world.

“We have a football project they have no idea, they hired bankers to make the football club not make football decisions. They have not appointed a sports director.

“We can look at the players all you want, but there are so many big things that need to be fixed first.

“You have to show up and face the music – now is the time. You can’t keep hiding in Tampa and thinking that nothing will come back to you.’

Neville pounced on United in his half-time analysis, comparing them to a U-9 team.

Meanwhile, Jamie Redknapp has slammed two of Erik ten Hag’s decisions against Brentford.

United return next Monday when they meet rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford, looking to improve on where they met last season when they were beaten 5-0.
