Jack Wilshere believes Gareth Bale isn’t good enough to get a game for Arsenal.

The 32-year-old is currently a free agent after leaving Real Madrid and has been in talks of a move to Championship side Cardiff City.

Bale secured his £85.3million move to Real Madrid in 2013 thanks to his superb performances for Tottenham.

But Wilshere believes Bale’s best days are behind him and believes he would not make Mikel Arteta’s squad.

When asked if he would take Bale at Arsenal, Wilshere told talkSPORT: “No.

“I look at the players who would play in that position and they are young players who have arguably been Arsenal’s best players in recent years.

“Well, I don’t think he’s getting a game. And if he does, I think he would hold off one of those players.

Asked last week if a move to Cardiff City was realistic, Bale said: “I can’t really say.

“I haven’t given that much thought to that. I don’t know if the standard makes too much of a difference.

“A soccer game is a soccer game. I have the feeling that I will never really lose my quality on the ball. I guess it’s a conversation that needs to be had.

“I have to make sure I’m playing games and I’m as fit as possible, that’s going to be hugely important.

“When I came to this camp, I wasn’t fit at all. I didn’t have much playing time at all. Sometimes I can get away with it. Ideally, I want to play at a World Cup and be as fit as possible for as long as possible.’
