Friend left partner with burns after pouring bleach over them

A man has been arrested after dousing his girlfriend’s half-naked body with bleach.
Liam Gordge, 22, became furious after he accused his partner of letting his dog wet his friend’s bed while they stayed there in August last year.
He suddenly grabbed the bleach and poured it over the 22-year-old’s head and body while she was wearing only her underwear.
The victim had severe burning in his eyes, foam at the mouth and inflamed skin, but he told doctors it was an “accident”.
Gordge attacked her three more times over the next three months, throwing her coat down the toilet and urinating on it when she tried to get off it.
He also threw a bottle of moisturizer at the victim, which hit a two-year-old child who was carrying it.
During this time, the victim said she felt like a “prisoner” and even stopped visiting her family as she was “ashamed” of the bruises on her face.
She described how she felt isolated from her friends and family when Gordge prevented her from having a normal social life and made her feel like she was living “within four walls”.
Gordge, who lived at the victim’s home, refused to leave when she tried to kick him out and even locked her in at one point.
He also tried to stop her from calling the police by snatching her phone from her hand as she called for help.
The couple had been in a relationship for nine months prior to the attack and the violence continued until they successfully ended the relationship three months later in November.
Gordge, from Taunton, was imprisoned at Exeter Crown Court for a year and nine months.
He had pleaded guilty to actual assault, criminal damage and four counts of battery, including one against the child.
Gordge has also been banned from contacting the victim or visiting the area where she lives.
Judge David Evans said: “It was said that this was not as serious as an acid attack but it did cause burning and irritation to the skin, eyes and mouth and it is fortunate the damage was not greater.
“Their violence was then repeated and there was a tone of humiliation at some of the incidents. It amounted to a campaign of violence against them.’
