Framingham Police warn residents as they investigate string of car break-ins – Boston News, Weather, Sports

FRAMINGHAM, MASS. (WHDH) – Framingham Police are on the lookout for burglars they say are behind a string of home and car break-ins that have been reported across the city.

One video shows a man moving around in a Ford pickup truck and roaming through compartments in the car.

“We’ve had a few forced break-ins into cars and houses, but mostly they’re unlocked,” said Deputy Police Commissioner Sean Riley. “Here they find easy access.”

In another video, taken in another part of the city, a man can be seen walking towards a Honda SUV. Police say he tries to open it but leaves when he realizes it’s locked. In a third video, a tall man in a hat and mask can be seen walking toward a house, but investigators say he abruptly leaves when he realizes there are people inside.

“We believe there are multiple individuals based on CCTV coming from the homes,” Riley said.

Detectives say the break-ins have happened across the city and in the last few months.

“I think our motor vehicle break-ins are up 275 percent, which is an astronomical number. And other burglaries, home alone, are up 37 percent,” Riley said.

The police are now warning residents.

“The biggest thing is that you keep your car and your doors to your house locked. If you leave a car in the driveway or outside on the street, make sure all your valuables are out of the car and bring them with you when you go in,” Riley said.
