It may be the middle of summer, but we always need a bit of Christmas cheer in our lives.

Two foxes jumping around on a trampoline managed to recreate scenes from John Lewis’ famous 2016 Christmas commercial, in which animated foxes, badgers and a dog bounce on a children’s trampoline.

The adorable video was shot in Sutton, south London, and the foxes spent more than 10 minutes jumping around with each other.

Nic Smith, 52, a council housing officer, captured the footage at her home.

She said: “It’s bizarre, but it’s actually quite cute. You had a great time.

“The other morning I woke up around 6.30am and I looked out the window and they jumped on the trampoline.

“It just reminded me of the John Lewis commercial where the kid gets a trampoline and foxes jump on it.

“I had the trampoline zipped up, so they must have unzipped it with their snout. There is also a three step ladder to get there.

“Maybe they just like the bounce you get on the trampoline.”

The foxes can be seen hesitantly at first as they grapple with trampolining.

But after a little pause, they both gain the confidence to leap into the air unconcerned.

Nic said her two sons – aged 12 and 10 – were delighted after seeing the video of the foxes regularly hanging out in the family’s garden.

It’s very similar to the retailer’s 2016 ad, when a family pet is inspired to jump on the new trampoline after seeing foxes, along with a badger, a squirrel and even a hedgehog, follow suit jump on it.

And this isn’t the first time foxes have been spotted hopping, as one was filmed on a trampoline in 2018.

Nic said: “The children love the foxes. They think it’s hilarious that we have them here.

“They come and lie down in the garden to relax when we sit outside.

“The fox cubs bring toys to the garden. They took a stuffed duck into the trampoline and played with it in there.

“Two of them are friends with our cat – they came and gave her a chicken wing a few weeks ago.

‘You just grew up behind the gardens. You’re quite friendly.”
