Former state police officer charged in 2021 fatal driving incident appears in court – Boston News, Weather, Sports

BOSTON (WHDH) — A former state trooper accused of driving while intoxicated and causing an accident that killed a motorcyclist appeared in court for a hearing on Tuesday.

Kristopher Carr was charged in court with charges including manslaughter while under the influence of the driver and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, a state police spokesman said

The incident happened in Boston last year when Carr was off-duty. As previously reported, around 1:30 a.m., responders responded to a report of an accident involving a motorcycle and SUV on the south side of Interstate 93 near Freeport Street

Crews found Winthrop’s Christopher Zike, 51, with serious injuries. The motorcyclist was later taken to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Carr was relieved of his duties immediately thereafter.
