Former Pet Industry Worker Warns Against Adopting These 5 Dog Breeds

People are serious about protecting their pets and it’s not hard to see why. If you take care of another being whose survival and happiness depends on you, how can you not develop feelings for them? As it turns out, there are countless studies suggesting that couples and families with pets are positively (pawed) influenced by all the extra love that comes from being with their pets.

“Couples who own cats or dogs have closer relationships, are more satisfied in their marriage, and respond better to stress than couples who don’t,” the University of Buffalo learned.

Given the scale of these relationships, can you imagine how hurt they would feel if someone went online on a viral TikTok and said they didn’t own their particular breed of dog?

Well, that’s when TikToker @chilicheesechelsea, nicknamed “Miss Chili Cheese” on the popular video sharing site, listed five dog breeds she “would never own having worked in the pet industry.” She put the video on “Che La Luna” by Louis Prima.

DISCLAIMER: I love these breeds, but I wouldn’t want to own one of my own. Don’t come for me doodle moms 🤪🤓 IT’S ONLY MY OPINION!!!! (and a joke i have a chihuahua lol)

She captioned the video with a disclaimer: “I love these breeds but I wouldn’t want to own one of my own. Don’t come for me doodle moms it’s just my opinion!!!! (And kidding, I have a chihuahua lol).”

She starts her list with a husky. These dogs rock coats that allow them to survive temperatures as low as 75 degrees below zero, meaning they often get hot in winter. So one reason for not owning a husky is if you aren’t able to care for his coat and make sure he’s comfortable in the not-so-frosty months.

But their reason for not wanting the breed is that they are “a complete mess and they’re always screaming.”

This is a viewpoint at least one person agreed in the comments: “I didn’t understand husky hate until I sat house and pet for a friend. That damn dog used to sing his people’s song to me every day at 5 a.m.

Chili Cheese Chelsea went on to list German shepherds as a dog breed she would never own because they are “always the most fearful and FOR WHAT.”

A blog about German Shepherd ownership suggests that there are a few reasons why the puppies tend to become anxious. One thing is a fundamental evolutionary trait, and it’s this fear that makes them such good watchdogs: they’re constantly alert and always on the lookout for potential dangers and how to protect loved ones. Another reason is that they tend to mimic their owners’ emotional state. So, in theory, if a German Shepherd is anxious, owners should try to be extra careful about how they behave around their pet.

She then went on to say that one of the downsides of owning a Samoyed is the “non-stop barking” and that they are the “fun police”. That ChicagoTribune stated that while Samoyeds bark no more than other noisy dog breeds, they tend to have a “more piercing” bark than other dogs.

The TikToker then went on to say that she never wants to “own literally EVERY Doodle mix. Really the worst (humans don’t know how to manage their energy/race mix so they end up being demons out of control) and they’re always MATTED.”

Pride and Prejudoodles, a site that provides tips on how to properly train these particular types of puppies, suggests that obedience training with these dogs begins right away, as they are known to demand a great deal of attention, perseverance, and patience from their owners.

At the end of the video, she adds “crispy-eyed little white dogs” to the list for their ankle-biting nature, a universally hardy canine genre.

Her post received a wide variety of responses from users on the platform. A few people seemed to take offense at the joking reviews their favorite dog breeds have endured, namely Doodle owners. Others agreed with some or all of Chili Cheese Chelsea’s statements:

“Doodles are literally the cutest, best dogs ever,” said one user in defense.

“Our Doodle is literally one of the best dogs I’ve ever had. As long as you really take care of them they are literally the cutest dogs ever,” commented a second.

“I love doodle smear,” countered another.

“The doodle owners in these comments are maaaad,” noted a third.

“I agree that the husky is completely out of whack,” claimed one viewer.

“Can confirm my GSD is anxious even after much professional training,” argued another.

“The way the owners of every other breed you mention agree with you and the Doodle owners say their dog is the best dog ever,” joked one user.
