A former McDonald’s chef went viral on TikTok for reviewing McDonald’s breakfast steak for his steak, egg, and cheese bagel.
User chef Mike Haracz (@chefmikeharacz) primarily posts reviews of McDonald’s and himself critiques how various things are made. This time he reviews how a McDonald’s steak is cooked in a stitched video of a worker cooking the steak. The original video begins with the McDonald’s employee pouring a ton of butter onto the grill. Then the worker takes a handful of pre-made frozen grilled onions and sprinkles them on the grill, followed by more butter.
“That seems like an excessive amount of butter, but it’s okay,” Haracz says as the video continues.
The worker, wearing white gloves instead of blue, takes out two cold steaks and places them on the grill next to the grilled onions. According to Haracz, you should “wear blue gloves when handling raw goods and that’s how the steak comes in”. After cooking the steaks a little, the worker – now wearing blue gloves – applies the seasoning. Then the video ends with the finished steak and hash browns.

The video was viewed over 272,000 times as of Saturday, and many viewers were surprised that McDonald’s was serving steaks.
“What?! Steak? We don’t have that,” said one viewer.
“McDonalds have steak?” asked a second.
Those who know about the steak, egg and cheese bagel commented on how they miss the breakfast sandwich.
“I miss the steak bagel,” one person commented.
“I’m so sad that the stores in my area have eliminated steak bagels. Literally was my favourite,” agreed a second.
“I wish the bagel breakfast still existed,” said a third.
Some of the viewers claimed the reason most places have shut down breakfast is because of the pandemic.
“And they stopped the steak cause of ‘Covid,'” one person claimed.
“During Covid, many places have shut down the bagels and steak,” agreed a second.
According to Foods Alternative, the steak, egg and cheese bagel was discontinued in 2014, but its discontinuation was made permanent during Covid-19. However, after a petition that garnered over 22,000 signatures, McDonald’s decided to only bring the beloved breakfast sandwich back to select locations in Indiana and Southwest Michigan, according to She Finds. The McDonald’s website described the bagel as “freshly toasted with real butter containing a tender, juicy steak patty, a fluffy wrinkled egg, melty American cheese and hearty grilled onions.”
